Novatek, Japanese firms sign memo to build Kamchatka LNG terminal
MOSCOW, Nov 28 (PRIME) -- Russian independent gas producer Novatek and Japan’s Marubeni Corporation and Mitsui O.S.K. Lines have signed a memorandum to consider building a liquefied natural gas (LNG) transshipment terminal on the Kamchatka Peninsula, Novatek said in a statement on Tuesday.
“The memorandum defines an intent by the sides and a specific plan of action to study an opportunity to create an LNG transshipment and marketing facility in the Kamchatka Region, including investments in development of this infrastructure project,” Novatek said.
The terminal would ensure flexible supplies of LNG to the key market – Asia-Pacific countries.
Deputy CEO of Novatek Lev Feodosyev said in August that Novatek plans to build an LNG terminal with a capacity of 20 million tonnes a year on the peninsula.
